The documentary film Down from the Mountain will be shown in The Old Theater, 609 Broad St., Oriental, at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $5.50 and go on sale at 6 pm at the box office with live music by “Salty Paws” beginning at 6:30 pm.

Down_from_the_Mountain_posterDown from the Mountain is a 2000 documentary and concert film featuring a live performance by country and traditional music artists who participated in the Grammy-winning soundtrack recording for the Joel and Ethan Coen film, O Brother, Where Art Thou? including Ralph Stanley, John Hartford, Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, and Gillian Welch. The concert, held on May 24, 2000, at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee, was  a benefit for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. The documentary was directed by Nick Doob, Chris Hegedus and D. A. Pennebaker. The artists in the concert also participated in a Down from the Mountain concert tour. (Source: Wikipedia)
